D.C. NYCE (MARK SMYTHE) WAS BORN IN PANAMA CITY, PANAMA. WHEN HE WAS 10 YEARS OLD, HE AND HIS FAMILY MOVED TO THE UNITED STATES. THOUGH HE UNDERSTOOD A LITTLE ENGLISH, HE COULD NOT SPEAK THE LANGUAGE. WHILE LEARNING ENGLISH, HE DISCOVERED HIP HOP. MARK WOULD LEARN SONGS AND RAP OVER THE MUSIC AS IT PLAYED ON THE RADIO. HE CREDITS THIS TO HIS MASTERY OF THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE.

D.C. NYCE WAS NO STRANGER TO RAPPING. HE’D RAP TO THE MUSIC IN HIS NATIVE PANAMA. THE MUSIC WAS NOT KNOWN AS HIP HOP, BUT SPANISH REGGAE RAP. A TYPE OF MUSIC THAT ORIGINATED IN PANAMA AND EVOLVED INTO WHAT IS KNOWN TODAY AS REGGAETON.

AS A YOUNG ADULT, HE CO FOUNDED A GROUP CALLED, COLORFUL CONSCIENCE. THEY PERFORMED IN CLUBS, PARKS, AND BACK TO SCHOOL PROJECTS FOR RADIO STATIONS IN ALABAMA.  IT WAS DURING THIS TIME HE HAD A BRIEF MEETING WITH THE GREAT JAZ-O WHO GAVE HIM ADVICE ABOUT THE MUSIC INDUSTRY. THAT ADVICE WOULD SERVE AS THE INSPIRATION D.C. NYCE USED TO PUSH FORWARD.

WHEN THE GROUP DID NOT ACHIEVE THE SUCCESS D.C. NYCE HAD DREAMED OF, HE JOINED THE NAVY. AFTER EIGHT YEARS IN THE MILITARY, HE COULD NO LONGER IGNORE HIS DREAMS. WITH THE HELP OF VARIOUS PRODUCERS AND OTHER ARTISTS HE SET OFF TO CREATE “HAVE A NYCE DAY.” HE IS DETERMINED TO USE HIS TALENTS TO PURSUE GREAT SUCCESS WITH HIP HOP MUSIC.  D.C.NYCE (DEVASTATED, CREATIVE, ALWAYS NYCE) IS A WAY OF LIFE, THE NAME ITSELF IS FULL OF ENERGY, VERSATILITY, AND POWER.
